About The Doctor
Dr. Timothy J. Hardy earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1985, after receiving his undergraduate degree at The University of Virginia. After completing an internship at Jersey Medical Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, and a residency in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C., he opened his private practice in Chesapeake, Virginia in 1990. In 1993, Dr. Hardy expanded his practice by opening a second location in Virginia Beach. In 2015, Dr. Hardy passed the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery written examination of the American Urogynecology Society as a senior applicant. A certified subspecialist in FPMRS, Dr. Hardy is qualified to provide consultation and comprehensive management of women with pelvic floor dysfunction including pelvic organ prolapsed, urinary incontinence and pelvic pain.
Currently, in addition to maintaining his practice, Dr. Hardy contributes a monthly column to Tidewater Women, a popular regional magazine. The articles cover a variety of gynecological and obstetrical subjects.
Dr. Hardy has received several honors including the Student Fellowship from the Southern Atlantic Obstetrics Association and 1st Place in the Boehringer Ingelheim Centennial Award, sponsored by the Department of Pharmacology for his publication - "Pre-eclampsia: A Hypothesis for Its Etiology," as well as the Dougherty Fellowship-Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Georgetown University Medical Center.
Dr. Hardy lives in Virginia Beach with his wife, Gretchen and they enjoy spending time with their 3 daughters. Dr. Hardy also enjoys sport fishing and snow skiing.
About Our Nurse Practitioner
Melissa R. Waddell, WHNP
Mrs. Waddell has earned several degrees beginning with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech, a certificate in Microbiology/Immunology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing, both from VCU.
Prior to becoming a women's health nurse practitioner, Mrs. Waddell worked as a registered nurse in the mother/infant unit at VCU Health Systems in downtown Richmond. She also served as a clinical instructor-adjunct faculty member through VCU’s School of Nursing, where she taught students the necessary skills to care for patients. Mrs. Waddell has served in many professional organizations such as the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society, and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Mrs. Waddell joined our practice in January 2005. She and her husband Neal, are natives of the Hampton Roads area and have now returned to raise their sons, Tyler, Ashton and Sawyer.
